It would be interesting to read this on on the list. Can it be
encoded or, preferably, converted to ASCII ?

The literature is not plentiful. We have Russell & Elliot's classic
of the 1930s, and the Open University Press book `Bands: The Brass Band
Movement in the 19th and 20th Centuries' edited by Trevor Herbert,
published in 1991.

Later this year there is planned to be a reprint edition of the 
interesting and charming `Talks with Bandsmen' by Algernon Rose (1895).
