(pardon my French) As a "Yank" who lives in El Paso, Texas may I say,"We have no brass bands in which to play". We have Mariachi bands, rock bands, jazz bands, concert bands, and our symphony orchestra is making a tour through Germany next spring--, but we don't have any brass bands. I am *really* impressed by the exceptionally high quality of all the "authentic" brass bands which I have on CD; and by the quality of the music which they play (Mathias, LLoyd, Holst, &etc.). Thus my high enthusiasm for the BB list. Until today. All the contacts I have had both on and off the list have been *unbelievably* amiable and helpful. Until today. The internet is no place for provincialism. For provincialism, try the local pub with old school chums and no outsiders. As the BB list becomes more active I can learn by just reading the posts. I have asked questions in an attempt to stimulate postings during the slow start-up period. Please excuse me if I (We?) have intruded. Be assured I still await the pleasure of reading your posts about brass bands and about music. Ralph Jones El Paso, Texas
