Nigel! At last! It's a Spark(e) of hope! Wondered already if the name would ever come up. As we will play "the Dragon" after the summer and because I have it on a tape (where it is performed (sorry again) by a fanfare orch.) and play it at least three times a week, I know it almost by heart by now. By no means under the impression that I could add to your knowledge of the piece, I'lld say you might hope for a really great persussionist on the snaredrum on the opening and finish (Great effect if played good, great bummer if not). And personally I EVERY time get shivers in the 'chorale' part. Timing and real enthousiasm on top of the acquired technique would be the key to performing this magnificent piece. Talking about Sparke: anyone ever hear or play The Sunken Village? Or Jubilee Overture. I have. (played) Common ground here BB'ers? ;-) ==================================== || Tjip Zigterman || tjip@xxxxxxxxx || The Dutch Fanfare Orchestra || Toos!
