Thanks for setting me straight on the cornet numbers. Now as to nomenclature. It would appear that "ripiano" (or how is it spelled?) must be derived from the baroque Italian term "ripieno", which means approximately "full", and is related to the English words "plenary" and "plenty". Can anyone comment on this point, and confirm that the "a" is pronounced as in its shorter relative, "piano"? Thanks. Play well. Basil
