Hello group

My name is Gerry Procee and I am manager  of the current  Dutch Championn
Brass Band "De Wldsang" If you want any news  about the band  please give me a 
message on procee@xxxxxx

I would like to start a discussion about the test-pieces used for contests. In 
british brass press there is at the moment a lot of talking about the 
test-pieces for this years British Open and British Championship Revelation by 
Philip Wilby and Songs for B.L. by Elgar Howarth  and about the use of 
percussion in general in nowadays test-pieces.

In my country is Journey into Freedom by Eric Ball  the set  pieces for our  
National Championship. Allthough I love the piece and I love the music of Eric 
Ball I prefer a new test-piece with new challenges  and new ways of composing   
. I think in that way the brass scene gets a better opportunity to develop it 
selves
