In an earlier message Dean Rayner wrote: Obviously they all play Yamaha. [But WHY??]. Obviously Dean Rayner doesn't like Yamaha instruments in general, and for not long ago I would have agreed with him. But now I have changed my opinion a little bit. Especially the Yamaha cornets aren't so bad, and I know that many brass band cornetists in England play Yamaha. The trombones is getting better, but still I don't think any model can beat my own Conn 88H. The biggest disadvantage with Yamaha as I see it is that the metal is to stiff. It doesn't ring as it should and therefor you don't get the right sound out of it. Henrik Glanneskog, tenor trombonist, Gothenburg Brass Band.
