Hello again all, Concerning the "Fourth Section Can of Worms" I have a few points I would like to add....... The way I see it, a test-piece score is a map of a piece, different bands can take different routes to acheive an overall performance. Along these routes things happen and different conductors like to add, change and swap thjings around. It doesn't matter how you acheive the performance as long as you have one. If every band played the same piece the way it was written, to evrey precise tempo, dynamic and style there would be no need for contests as everyone would be playing the same thing. Swaping parts around is not a crime, I have played with many bands that this has happened in, even at the National Finalsa few years ago when we won and in this years Finals also. I wouldn't class it as cheating, just a different interperation. A score is a map of a piece and there are so many possibilities of acheiving a performance, the conductor is the navigator who finds the performance!!!!! Goooooo, that was a bit deep wasn't it, especialy for first thing on a Monday morning! Well thats my say, if anyone else has any comments on this then you all know who and where I am!!!!
