I saw this in rec.music.makers.trumpet and thought others on the brass band mailing list would be interested in this. Below is the forwarded message. David A. Roth david@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Forward of article <471cin$lrq@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> from cyarnell@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx: I had the pleasure to see the New Zealand National Band last night in concert (Frostburg, Maryland). What an incredible group! Without a doubt one of the finest playing brass bands anywhere. Instrumentation included about 15 cornets,6-8 mellophones, 6-8 alto horns, 8 bones, 6(2 different sizes) Tubas and a percussion line of 4. I've never heard so many good players in any one group. IN New Zealand there are over 100 brass bands who regularly compete against each other. the National Band is made of of the finest players available. they are just finishing a US Mainland tour and will be in Hawaii this coming week(Monday or Tuesday) before heading back down under. Feeling recharged, Charlie
