In The British Bandsman issue 4867 dated Saturday 27 January, The Main 
headline on the front page reads

		     Bergen pulls in BDM.

    The following article goes on to say that Black Dyke have reversed their 
decision about the European and will now be going to the contest.

    The decision not to go was based on the fact that they could not get 
suitable flights and would have to stay in Bergen for five days, this would 
cost too much at 20000 pounds stirling.

    Due to flight cancelations they can fly and only have to stay for two 
nights, thus cutting the cost to 15000 pounds stirling. This saving is 
enough to make the band management change their minds.

    The article also states that James Watson, Black Dykes Artistic Advisor 
will conduct the title defence
