Why can't we have some established music for a change?? > If you use existing music the a band who has recently performed that work has an advantage over one that hasn't . It places everyone onthe same playing field. The most important aspect is adding to the repetoire fro brass band. Just think of the repetoire that would not have been written woithout these commissions. We would not have all this music that is now established repetoire. No Severn Suite. No moorside suite. etc Commissioning Philip Wilby etc is not just a matter of contesting, it produces music that merits serious consideration by all music lovers.
