Here's the top four for the Midlands Area again. No doubt someone will post the rest, as I don't know them for sure. 1. Rigid Container Group - 194 points 2. Rhodian Brass - 192 points 3. Woolley Pritchard Sovereign Brass - 190 points 4. Staffordshire Building Society - 189 points Rigid and Rhodian qualify for the Nationals. Anyone playing in the Yorkshire Area next weekend will have Roy Newsome as adjudicator, (like us), so here is a copy of his adjudication on our performance. Perhaps you can look and find out which sections of the band and the piece he is going to be listening for. 'Flug and Euph not together in opening. Ct trio fairly accurate, but very cautiously played. B - rich sounds - but very slow. C - well controlled - but basses rather powerful! Allegro - some good playing and a real sense of purpose. Splendid link, and the piu mosso displays a fine sounding band. Scherzando goes well - despite odd-sounding tambourine! M - an excellent section. N - beautifully restrained playing in horns. Sop has a few intonation problems. Lovely close. O - good euph duo, but 2nd a bit prominent. Lovely, graceful playing from cornets. Q - beatifully handled. Good link to S. A few rhythmic lapses here with one or two rushers in the band! V - again impressive stuff, though troms not as well balanced here as earlier. Espansiva - some lovely sounds, but it became a little too expansive for the band's stamina. Nobilmente and Tranquilo beautifully portrayed and from Z, an exciting finish to a most interesting performance.' If only we hadn't messed up the beginning.... :( Best wishes, -- Tim Morgan, Bass Trombone, Woolley Pritchard Sovereign Brass. -- unsubscribe or receive the list in digest form, mail a message of 'help' to listserv@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
