SR News: PKzip V3.0 Trojan

There is a PKzip V3 Trojan

PKWARE, makers of the popular PKZIP and PKunzip programs, have confirme=
d
that someone has uploaded a bogus PKzip V3. This version reportedly era=
ses
all data on the hard drive when executed. One report said that it did t=
his
when unzipped but this is not correct. These programs do not contain a
virus but a very destructive trojan.

The file names reported are PKZ300B.EXE and PK300B.ZIP. Do not use thes=
e
programs.

PKzip 2.04g is the officially released version of PKzip. (There is
apparently also a PKzip 2.06 in limited release but we suggest you chec=
k
with PKware if you are unsure of the legitimacy of your release of PKzi=
p.)
