> Could anyone out there please inform as to if Black Dyke Mills have a web > page? Also could they give me any information as to the Black Dyke Mills Fan > Club? Lastly could anyone help me trace any old copies of the British > Bandsman. I am looking for as many back issues (even No.1!!) as I can find. > This is for a dissertation I am hoping to write for my University Degree. > Black Dyke don't yet have a web site. Bradford and Bingley have said that they will put some stuff on their site about the Band but I haven't seen anything yet. Also one or two people who aren't in the Band have said that they'd like to set up a Dyke site although again I haven't seen anything yet. If my desk is ever clear and if I get a weekend when we don't have a gig I may get round to sorting something out. Don't hold your breath. Dyke do however have a friends society. I think at present there are about 1000 people world wide that are regular subscribers. The Friends Soc. publish a news letter and run promotions on concert tickets, CDs, merchandise etc. Merchandise include T shirts, sweatshirts, polo shirts, badges, key rings, hats, ties, silk scarf's, you name it. You don't have to be a friend to buy merchandise but if you are you can claim some discounts. There are also special Friends concerts and later this year there is a Friends weekend which I'm told will include visits to local Brass Band places of interest in West Yorkshire, a guided tour of the Band room and culminating in a private concert and dinner with the Band. Again, you don't have to be in the Friends Soc. to visit the Band room, it's open house to anyone at all rehearsals, Mon. and Thus., 7.30-9.30. However, it's a pretty small room and there is only room for about 8 guest chairs so arrive early if you want a chair because most are taken at each rehearsal. It might be a good idea to mail me if you want to come up just to make sure that the rehearsal is on and that we're in the Band room. For example, before the Open last year we didn't use the Band room because it was too small for the seating required for Phil Wilby's Revelation. Enquiries about the Friends Society should be sent to: Mike Heywood 8 Pennine Close Queensbury West Yorks. UK or you can mail me and I'll pass the stuff on to Mike. I think that the annual fee for the Friends Soc. is 10 pounds, there are slightly different fees for family membership or lifetime membership. I'll get these details and post them soon.
