Here's two more things to throw into the pot - "1922 saw the end of the "Square formation" of bands when performing at Crystal Palace and the adoption of the "Concert formation". Most bands sat in the chairs provided but some still stood "As we have always done and always will. Those who sit are cissies and wallflowers". Quote - The British Bandsman Centenary Book, page 159.
