Myself, Nigel Wears and Nigel Horne have just met up for the first time
(ever) and have visited Cafe Internet at Buckingham Palace Road, London SW1
this lunchtime to check it out as a possible venue for the brass-band
project scheduled for Sunday 20th October.

At Nigel W.'s request, I have been asked to post this short report to all
who have already expressed an interest in taking part (or who are still
undecided).

The space we are considering using is in the basement of the premises and
although its a little "compact" down there, we agreed that it is probably
ample for a band to set up and play in a reasonable level of comfort.
Access to the premises can be obtained before 10am to set up seating and
percussion equipment etc. but it is envisaged that the majority of those
taking part will arrive around 10am to start playing shortly thereafter.  

The plan is to broadcast the performance live on the net with the aid of
CeSeeme Software and we have also discussed the pros and cons of this with
the management, to a satisfactory conclusion.

The cafe management have in addition raised the matter of performance
licences with Westminster Borough Council and are still awaiting their
response.  Likewise Nigel W.'s contact at the Performing Rights Society has
yet to give a definitive answer and a lawyer contact has suggested that a
licence  may not necessary for this particular event since we will in effect
be a private party having a rehearsal session away from the general public.
It was originally planned to use the cafe area itself but the layout in the
basement is a preferable location.  Hopefully all these minor details will
be resolved in our favour very soon - Nigel Wears will keep you posted.

I think I've covered just about everything Nigel W. wanted me to report back
to you all on.  He's en route to Madeira at the moment but will be back at
his PC on Monday.
