The relatively huge prizes at Cambridge have therefore attracted the BIG bands away from the Whit Friday events. This year Cambridge has come early (or is Whit late??) so that the top bands were able to compete at both contests. What a difference it makes to listen to a really good band playing the same marches that we all think that we can play. It really put the excitement back into Whit Friday this year even though it means fewer chances for us lesser bands to win the top prizes.
