Greetings from Canada, aye! Murray is the name and bass trombone is the game!! I play with th Woods Manufacturing Brass Band in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, for about 1 1/2 years. I started playing on the baritone in the S.A. when I was 10, and then on to Euphonium. I joined the military on "euph." when I was 18. The smooth and mellow sounds of George Roberts seduced me over to the bass trombone when I was about 24. Shortly after, I joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Band, on bass tombone. About 7 years later, I resigned and tried my hand at business, which is where I am today. I play in several "big" bands and dance bands in the Ottawa area as well as the odd musical theater and other free lancing. The Woods Band puts out several brass quintets. The one that I play in uses 2 cornets/trumpets and 3 trombones (1 tenor trombone playing french horn parts and me playing tuba parts). On my day gig, I am a damage estimator\general contractor for insurance companies, with ServiceMaster of Ottawa. Hobbies are golf (15 handicap) and fishing with my Son, but I must say that I really enjoy the Brass Band. It has given me a whole new interest in music and playing - or should I say "practicing". Enough about me. Many thanx to Nigel for offering this venue. Cheers! Bass Clef Forever!!!!
