Greetings!

Since I was the one who instigated the concept of a Cyber Band get together, I
feel that I should point out a couple of things:

1.  Bands do have different criteria for membership. People also have
different wants from being with a band, and as such, tend to go to a band
which meets the criteria which suits there ideology.  The band that will meet
on October 20th also has a criteria.  That is, that the people who play in it
have access to a computer and modem, and play a brass band instrument.  Apart
from whatever else they choose to tell us, that is all we know about them.

2.  When we all meet up, we will have, maybe, around 40 mins to an hour of
time on the www. to perform.  Would it be better not to be "Fool hardy" in our
chosen repertoire, and choose items which are likely to "Work", and allow
Nigel Horne time to "Top+Tail" them, rather than perform major heart surgery
on the music?(And some of our players!)  This, of course does not rule out the
playing of a test piece, but rather a plea for us to choose with care,
thinking (As far as possible) of everyone, including those of us who may wish
to listen on the www. site, not wanting to hear shoddy performances! 

Choosing such a programme is hard - But that's why I threw it open for list
members to decide in the first place!  (Is this what is called democracy?) 
Some of us play for Championship bands, some of us play with 4th section
bands, but the thing that has brought us together is our being on this list. 
The challenge is rather to play what we choose to play well. 

I hope that people will bear all factors in mind when thinking of our
repertoire.   So far, I have only had suggestions from a couple of people,
which I have passed on to Nigel Horne, as our M.D., who will, no doubt, report
back to us when he has enough material to decide what should be included. 

Sorry if this is pointing out the obvious!

BTW - I think the "Test Piece" thread is worthy of discussion outside of the
realms of how it affects our Cyber Band.  It is an issue with many factors,
and, as such, I feel the discussion needs to develop in a broader sense.
