I was telling our MD, Alex Ferguson, about this thread at reheasal last
night and he told me about the time at a contest when he was conducting
the hym, the alarm on his wristwatch went off during the final chord.
He was frantically trying to turn it off and caox a ppp out of the band
at the same time.  I'm beginning to have my doubts about him, but since
he's a euphonium player (and a scot), he must be OK.
