A new junior brass teaching scheme has been inaugurated in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire (UK). The scheme, entitled 'Brass 2000' has been set up under the direction of Paul Russell who is director of 'Royal Spa Brass' - a band with a long history in Leamington and neighbouring Warwickshire. The purpose of the scheme is to provide opportunities for the development of talent in novice players of all ages, working in concert with Warwickshire County Music Service and to do as much as possible to heighten the image of brass playing in general. To provide a very specific focus for the activities and development of Brass2000, Paul has booked Symphony Hall in Birmingham for an opening concert in early 2000. There are already some 70 new playing members and standards and enjoyment are improving quickly. I have volunteered to see how subscription to appropriate internet mailing lists could contribute to the success of the scheme and look forward to hearing from anyone prepared to offer comment or advice. I can be contacted diretly on <Brass2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>. My connection with the scheme is a simple one - my thirteen year old son David already plays trombone in Royal Spa Brass. -- Brass 2000 -- unsubscribe or receive the list in digest form, mail a message of 'help' to listserv@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
