In our recent discussion of the top 10 (ENOUGH!) it was suggested that British Bands don't swing. I disagree. I have just come into a copy of Revelations by Black Dyke and my kids are dancing to the big band sounds of James Watson - they dig it! I would draw your consideration to the Trumpet Blues and Cantabile as performed by Desford (Live in Canada). As we crossed the bridge in our discussions and ratings between contest and TSA bands, I believe its the deportment of the S.A. bands that effect their ability to "let loose with it." After all, thats what they use to play in those "dens of iniquity!" This is perhaps the true forte which Himes brings forth with the Chicago Staff on our side of the Atlantic. Letting the swing go by, Wilby has really outdone himself with this Revelation. Of course all you Brits probably knew that back in '95.
