Hi all, The organiser of the British Open, Margaret Mortimer, announced yesterday that Manchester's Bridgewater Hall is unsuitable for a brass band contest after some problems last year and would not be used again. She also announced that as of September 6th this year, the new home for the British Open will be Birmingham's Symphony Hall. Apparently, it is with reluctance that she made the decision to move from Manchester, the Open's home since it started 145 years ago, but realises that the world's premiere contest needs a premiere venue, and hopes that the Open has found a new home for many years to come. The full story can be found on Brass Band World's homepages on http://www.brassbandworld.com/ Best wishes, -- Tim Morgan, Bass Trombone, Woolley Pritchard Sovereign Brass. -- unsubscribe or receive the list in digest form, mail a message of 'help' to listserv@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
