Many of the postings on this subject centre around the alleged inability of uk bands (and others) to "swing". I believe we may be barking up the wrong tree here and should also be concentrating on the quality of the arrangement itself - when you get an arranger with the talent of Bill Geldard for example, you'd have a problem NOT swinging! IMO, we have too many badly scored transcriptions which will never swing no matter what you do with them - you only have to look at the kit parts to see the arranger hasn't got a clue! The spirit of Edrich Siebert seems to live on even today! Of course, if your players don't a jazz quaver from a cheese flavoured one, they'll not swing either!
