Because of the difficulty in starting a band in North America Nabba has sections that include one where a new band can play even if they are using trumpets and french horns. Because of the long distances many bands can not afford to appear every year so this instant band (like the CYberband) is a product of enthusiasm for brass banding. Keep in mind that there are no preliminary contests and you can enter any section you want to. A band decides which on it's going to have a crack at. There are a few other rules that are used that would not be allowed in th UK You can substitute players between numbers. This accomodates bands that normally carry more than the standard number of players. it of course disadvantages bands who do not. -- Trumpets and Soprano Cornet Symphony Hamilton, McMaster Chamber Orchestra Weston Silver Band, Celebration Brass Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Graham Young (905)575-8440 -- unsubscribe or receive the list in digest form, mail a message of 'help' to listserv@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
