I think it would "surprise" many of the younger jazz enthusiats (and some of the older ones as well) that many classical players can play jazz styles. Charlie Schleuter of the Boston Symphony played for Henry Mancini. I started out in big band as 'switched' to classical. I know I can go from "legit" to "swing". I recently cought a TV performance of the Berlin Phil. playing a concert of AMerican music and they "swung" It was a bit odd to see them playing jazz on rotary trumets. Styles can be learned.
