I must agree with Erik's opinion of the new versus the old Salvation Army
Band Tune Books.

Why? The old arrangements were unquestionably better. As I understand, the
newer ones (how old, seven or eight years now?) were created to answer the
concerns of smaller Salvationist band ensembles that did not have the
requisite instrumentation to do justice to the former hymn tune
arrangements. In so doing, a lot of fine music has been sacrificed.

It's quite tragic, really.
