FIRST COMPOSITION FOR NEWLY POPULAR LOW-COST INSTRUMENT UNVEILED

Available at Hosaphone(tm) Headquarters Web Site, Where Minimalism Meets New
			       Age Philosophy

WWW, March 7, 1997 - The first serious composition for the Hosaphone(tm), a
low-cost, valveless brasswind instrument, is now available free via the
World Wide Web.

Based on only six notes, Codetta in C for Hosaphone(tm), Piano and Bass can
be downloaded free from the Hosaphone(tm) Headquarters Web Site at
<http://www.roth-music.com/hosaphone>.

"My goal in writing Codetta in C was to demonstrate that it is possible to
make music with the most basic of tools," said composer David A. Roth. "The
inventor/mentor of the Hosaphone(tm), Ellis Workman, and I wanted to
introduce this unique musical instrument to the world by encouraging brass
players to end their concerts and recitals with this short piece."

Workman invented the Hosaphone(tm), which consists of an eight-foot length
of tubing to which a trumpet mouthpiece and a funnel are attached, in 1976.
Since that time, the instrument has gained popularity among brass players
through the mystical wisdom of the Hosaphone(tm) FAQ, or frequently asked
questions file residing on the Web.

According to the Hosaphone(tm) FAQ, a Hosaphone(tm) can be made "for pocket
change." The site goes on to promise that "because of [the Hosaphone's]
simple and elegant design, you the trumpeter will be less distracted with
mechanical gizmos and will be free to focus on hosing great art!" The
Hosaphone(tm) FAQ can be seen at
<http://www.roth-music.com/hosaphone/hosaphone-faq.html>.

The complete score for Codetta in C, including parts for Hosaphone(tm), bass
and piano, as well as complete composer's notes, can be downloaded for free
from the Web site and viewed through the free Adobe Acrobat reader. Those
wishing to hear a performance of the work by the composer can also download
a RealAudio sound file. Additionally, these items and a play-along cassette
of the accompaniment minus the solo part can be purchased by mail order.

Those without Web access can obtain more information and an order form by
writing to Hosaphone(tm) Headquarters, P.O. Box 1082, Westerville, OH
43086-7082.

David A. Roth is a trumpet player, comp(h)oser and Hosaphone(tm) soloist,
and co-author with Ellis Workman of the Hosaphone(tm) FAQ.
