I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the bands in the Championship Section
last Sunday - it makes a change from being under the pressure of the stage
for once.
I must say I am a little surprised that one or two people were so outraged
by the result. I did here all of the top 6 placed bands (eyes shut/head
bowed for the most part) and whilst I didn't ask anybody else, in the bar
or elsewhere, what they thought I didn't think Roy Roe was too far off the
mark.
It is important to see past the odd split from any player and the real
'test' of a band is the sound it makes and I must say that Fairey's warmth,
balance and roundness wasn't matched, period.
