With a sincere desire to end this nit-picking and frankly, unnecessary
personal criticism, may I quote from a Mr. P. Argent, suitably paraphrased?

I'm not sure if you really believe that, but I don't agree that the brass
band movement owes everything to The Salvation Army, especially not to the
Canadian Staff Band. Yes, our music has been enriched by the Army, and
yes, many have been blessed by the music of any Army bands (or are Staff
Bands _really_ annointed by the General as the rumour goes?) but to say
that without either we would be lost is a bit of a stretch.
