I listened to all but 6 bands and DID have the winners in the frame, and so did most of the people around me. Four bands stood head and shoulders above all the others - they being Flowers (10th!), Rothwell (1st), Point of Ayr (3rd) and Ransomes (2nd), and most people in the hall I believe had these bands in one order or another. However Northop were also much fancied by many people (one I missed). To Tim - IMHO you performance was spoilt by two things, 1, Too fast to start for the band. 2, Basses overblowing throughout. One point of interest - I can only remember one Solo crnt playing the top D without the aid of a sop (Point of Ayr). Surely this was one of the tests in this chosen Test Peice, or should rewriting of parts be acceptable ?
