Sorry, but I just can't agree with that.  I listened to all but 6 
bands and DID have the winners in the frame, and so did most of the 
people around me.  Four bands stood head and shoulders above all the 
others - they being Flowers (10th!), Rothwell (1st), Point of Ayr 
(3rd) and Ransomes (2nd), and most people in the hall I believe had 
these bands in one order or another.  However Northop were also much 
fancied by many people (one I missed).
To Tim -  IMHO you performance was spoilt by two things,
1,  Too fast to start for the band.
2, Basses overblowing throughout.

One point of interest -  I can only remember one Solo crnt playing 
the top D without the aid of a sop (Point of Ayr).  Surely this was 
one of the tests in this chosen Test Peice, or should rewriting of 
parts be acceptable ?
