Having read Dave Deakin's bit on circular breathing - and the problems he has experienced with "back pressure" I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on the causes of "BLACKING OUT", that really "cool" (NOT) thing that Sop players tend to do from time to time. As those of you who may have read my messages in the last couple of months will know, I have just moved from Flugel to Sop and this move is now looking pretty permanent! I have however already come across this rather disturbing happening. Is there anything I can do to stop it (other than going back to Flugel) and why does it always (nearly) happen in Ruby Tuesday (Alan Catherall)? The reason I'm asking is it nearly happened last week and it scared me to death - can I do some breathing exercises or just take less of a lung-full or summat like that...?
