Luckily our top BBb bass player is extra-ordinarily good in this register (he plays a four valve Besson) so our 2nd EEb is rarely asked to go down with (!) him. The 2nd BBb will ALWAYS play the written part. As for what to do in the stuffy register, my only advice is to lower your jaw, push it slightly forward and push with the diaphragm. You probably already know that but I believe that is the only way to improve low playing. Regards, Phil Green.
