My band is playing at the funeral of one of our retired members next week=
 -
Ian Smith was a member of Uckfield Concert Brass for many years. However,=

prior to that, he played in a number of trad bands and jazz was his main
musical love. His widow has asked that we play, amongst others, an old
spiritual that I'm told is often used at traditional new orleans funerals=

(no doubt someone on  the list from that neck of the woods can confirm or=

correct this!) called "Deep River" - if anyone out there has ever heard o=
f
it, could they contact me personally to awooler@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The priest conducting the service has heard it before and will allow us t=
o
use it - he draws the line at "When the Saints" on the way to the graveya=
rd
though!
