Saturday night we had the concert, which was a great success. The composite band of Tasmania was led by Norm Harris (a very famous and experienced trumpet player in Australia). We had an audience of about 250 (pretty good by Tasmanian standards) which enjoyed themselves greatly. Sheona's program added a great contrast, as the rest of it was loud and boisterous (including 'Fanfare for the Common Man', 'Rock Music III', 'Jurassic Park' and 'Cops and Robbers' as an encore). We finished the normal program with 'Riverdance' that had the audience on their feet (as it seems to anywhere), but this time we even managed to impress the conductor! Sheona's playing was brilliant and sweet as you'd expect, but I actually enjoyed her masterclass a lot better. She is so friendly, honest and effervescent, that it was just a pleasure to be there. Sheona was also quite taken with out BBb bass player (Andrew Woolley), who played 'Rule Britannia' for her. She freely admitted that she wasn't familiar with the instrument and was quite taken aback with his technical ability. It was a totally enjoyable afternoon being entertained by a very charming lady. Good luck to Sheona on the rest of her tour, we hope to see her again and any other artists that wish to come to our Southern isle.
