Hi, Darren! It could indeed be that Besson made a run of "dogs" Unfortunately, IMHO, we got 'em! We get by with them, and they are surely better than the old student cornets most of us had if we had cornets at all, but I like my (and most of the others I've tried) Getzen Eterna cornet(s). Hey, weren't you going to be moving to the San Francisco Bay area? I'm about to do so in 2 1/2 weeks. I'm going to need a core of good cornettists if I'm going to start a San Jose Brass Band (I'm dreaming, I suspect. I'm not good at organizing things like this, but I'd sure like to see one start. I miss the IBB and I'm not even gone yet!) YMMD! I have two of the band's Sovereign cornets. One is probably about 15 years' old, plays very well, and is the one I use. The other is perhaps four or five years' old, and is horrible to play, mostly on account of poor intonnation and dead feel/tone. I know a couple of others who feel exactly the same; maybe they went through a bad patch?
