Having been reminded of the controversy surrounding the decision to write percussion parts for Pageantry I have to agree, Philip Wilby did write the percussion parts. Bram Gay's involvement I believe was as general editor for the publishers, if my memory serves me correct he had the unenviable task of explaining and defending the decision amidst some criticism. Philip Wilby was given the task, as a former pupil of the composer Herbert Howells'. Many grovelling apologies for the confusion . . .
