Examples of Band Constitutions and By-Laws

Dear Brass Banders,
  Our Band is in the process of changing its legal status. It's committee
was originaly associated with the Warringah Municipal Council in Sydney,
who provided insurance and other services. Due to the growth of Thatcherite
Local Government Policies in Australia (three cheers for the sentiments
expressed in "Brassed Off!") we now have to set up as a separate legal body.

 We have decided to become a non-profit corporate Association. For this we
need a constitution. We are using a "pro forma" constitution recommended
for Associations by the Department of Fair Trading of the State Government
of New South Wales. This is  so that we can do all the necessary
organisational things (Public Liability Insurance, Instrument Insurance
etc.) to protect ourselves.

  We are in the process of writing the "Organisation Specific" component of
our Consitution, which outlines the objectives of the Association,
categories of membership and By-Laws.

  I would like to know whether there are any bands out there who might
provide to us with a copy of their Consitution which we can use as a model
for our own.

In fact I wonder whether an opportunity exists for this list to create a
model set of Rules which might be available for any bands that are
setting-up their organisational structure.

We would appreciate anything anyone would like to offer. Please send
personal replies to me. If wanted, will post a summary of this information
to the list.
