RE: Posture poser

Well, ummm, gee whiz! Does that make me a master of undressing! (Hmmm, that
doesn't sound right. Nor does dressing down.) Or was it musical pointers?

In all seriousness, for the Instant Band, it was important that everyone feel
comfortable and relaxed. If we had to worry about dress and deportment, as
well as how well we would play after only 2 days rehearsal together, we would
have been in big trouble. Being comfortable was right for that particular
event.

On the other hand, I remember the very first competition Woods participated
in. We wore our new band jackets and were very proud to do so. I think in that
situation attention to deportment helped our playing; we did not want to let
our sponsor down and his name was on every jacket. We did ourselves, and
Woods, proud.

Just before I flew out to Red Wing to play in the Instant Brass Band at the
NABBA contest, Harold Floysvik sent out an email saying something like you
can wear what you like on stage, it's the music that counts. Maybe committee
members should ask Harold for a few pointers !
