My band, Concept Brass played the piece about a month ago as the finale of our entertainment contest programme at the Auckland Bands' Association Contest, and about two years ago, we played it at a concert of major works by British composers, which included Henry the Fifth (R. Vaughan-Williams), A Moorside Suite, Russian Funeral (Britten) among others. The band enjoyed playing the Mathias and the audience was pleased to hear some different music from the stuff all the other bands insist on rolling out year after year. It's a relatively easy piece to play, too. Highly recommended! Cheers, Adrian J.
