Dear List,
The South Australian Brass Band Championships were held last weekend (18
Oct) in Tanunda.
The results for A Grade were:
1st  Kew (Victoria)
2nd  Hawthorn (Victoria)
3rd  Kensington & Norwood (S.A.)
4th  Tanunda Town Band (S.A.)

The results for the A Grade entertainment contest were:
1st  Kew
2nd  Kensington & Norwood
3rd  Hawthorn
4th  Tanunda

The results for the A Grade Hymn were:
1st  Kensington & Norwood
2nd  Kew
3rd  Hawthorn
4th  Tanunda

So it was a good weekend for Kew (my band)!  The adjudicator's comments
in the entertainment crits included the words "Bloody Brilliant!"
The results are particularly gratifying for Kew because Hawthorn the
weekend before won the Victorian championship (against only 2 other
bands - Kew did not compete).  So Kew would like to think that it is the
unofficial reigning champion band for this part of the world (Victoria
and South Australia).
