before I go any further I just want to say that I am not an anorak who goes to contests, hears all the bands and likes to get all the spaces in my programme filled in ! I was up at Prestatyn supporting my local band (who were robbed !!!!!!!!!!!! of course) and happened across someone who had all the results. My adjudication ? Tredegar were (unfortunately for everyone else) a clear league ahead of anyone else there. Compared to the other bands they sounded like they had 56 players on stage. Crewe Co-op played a very good band for 3rd. Surprised at Woodfalls coming 5th - lots of terrible tuning and IMHO not very good at all. Surprised at Sovereign coming 7th - totally different, rounder sound, a few individual blunders must have cost them more than poor tuning/ensemble did others. Surprised at Cory's - seemed to want to blow the audience away and after a good result at the Nat's were slightly disappointing at 11th. Adjudicators commented that many bands thought the first movement was called Triumph Herald, not Kings Herald and played it too fast. Maybe if Tredegar had played the first movement a bit slower they would have won by more points ? 1st Tredegar 193 2nd BT 191 3rd Crewe Co-op 190 4thFishburn 188 5th Woodfalls 186 6th Stalybridge 185 7th Sovereign 8th BTM 9th BS Teeside 10th Northop 11th Cory 12th Rolls Royce Cov. 13th Staffordshire BS 14th Drighlington 15th Brit Aerospace 16th Mount Charles 17th Longridge 18th Lewis Merthyr Any mistakes in the above listing are due to the case of alcoholic poisoning I received at the weekend and am trying to defeat.
