Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Salvation Army bands don't compete.
In any event, at least most of the bands competing are not Salvation
Army bands.  Nothing against God or those who glorify him, but I play in a
brass band for my own gratification only.  I'm sure that others on this
list have their own reasons for banding, and none of them are more "right"
than any others.
