That's right.  Don't quote me, but I think VHS is just the tape
operating system (dimensions of cassette) which is common to Britain and
Australia.  PAL, NTSC etc. are all the different colour systems used by
different countries, so even if they don't match, the video should still
play, only in black and white.  This is based on my personal experience
- I bought a copy of 'A Clockwork Orange' in France and that plays in
black and white.
