For me the greatest ever performance was the sound of Fairies on Revelation at the Open a couple of years ago,( in a class of its own ), this was probably followed by a stunning performance at the Yorkshire area by Dyke in the late 80s of George Lloyds Diversions on a Bass theme, closely followed by Dykes performance of the same piece in Rotterdam at the Europeans. Three superb performances, probably outstanding in their lifetime. ---------- From: loz <loz@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: 'brass-band@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: THE BIG SOUND! Date: 23 November 1997 00:06 Let's have some feedback on the subject of 'The Big Sound' of band's today. Every band can play loud, of course, but what about the controlled sound that makes the hair stand on end.The majestic presence when the lower end of a band enters and produces the 'Organ' like pulse that actually vibrates the air we breathe. Yes, who can forget the 1985 National's with that incredible 'Dyke' sound on 'Cloudcatcher Fells' . The masterful precision of Desford's 'Harmony Music' . The list is endless, so come on and give me the top three most amazing and monstorous perfomances ever heard on the planet. -- unsubscribe or receive the list in digest form, mail a message of 'help' to listserver@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ---------- -- unsubscribe or receive the list in digest form, mail a message of 'help' to listserver@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
