Can't remember who sent this one as had the wonderful mapi spooler error
message before I could save it (anyone else get this from time to time?)

The comment was that it's only the opinion of the adjudicator that counts=
 -
that may be so as far as the result is concerned but I'm much more
interested in pleasing the other 28 musicians on stage who in our case fe=
lt
"it did work for them" and left the contest still happy with the
performance and the conductor despite being placed 11 out of 16. ( we've
booked the same chap to take us in October at Folkestone Contest). The
important thing for us is that we now believe we are staying in 1st secti=
on
- that was more important than winning -



The other point, may not affect bands in other countries, is that the
failure of an adjudicator to get a correct result at the other end (ie wh=
o
really came last etc) has massive implications for their grading. How man=
y
times have we heard comment from the stage that the first 2 were easy to
spot, then came a group who were much of a muchness? the difference betwe=
en
4th & 11th may be small if they were all similar but in
promotion/relegation terms, it's a big difference!

Finally, any adjudicator who takes money for judging us should also be
prepared to be judged himself - we as bands do t it wrong sometimes, don'=
t
you hide behind the lame old excuse that it's your opinion and it can't b=
e
wrong either! If you can't take criticism, then don't take the gig or the=

money either!
