Re: Contesting - Was: Re: Adjudication Correct?

I know of a few contests that employed separated adjudicators. One case was
the Entertainment contest at Yeovil (attracted some top bands at one time).

The judges gave the points out as they saw it and the band with the highest
total won. It did, on occasion, throw up some interesting decisions with
the 2 judges marking the same band 12 points apart but so what - they were
paid to give their opinion and that's what we got. Seems like a fair system
to me. I don't know what provision they had for a draw but I don't see a
lot wrong with a draw anyway (perhaps the senior judge had the final say)

I think that they are going to employ separate judges in the All England
Masters this year which is great news - 3 opinions instead of a
consensus(unless we don't win of course, then they will all be deaf old has
beens who don't know what they are talking about and we can write to the
list and moan ;-)
