Hi Cameron, It is very unfortunate what has happened, things like this I think have happened in the past. One such ocasion was a few years ago at the Yorkshire area - the band in question was Brighouse (Martin perhaps you could confirm this). The situation although probably not exactly the same initially resulted in Brighouse being awarded average points and was left at that. However once the national governing body found out, and got involved i think that Brighouse were disqualified and placed last. It very nearly made them go down. In our area one band in the first section forgot to send there entry in for the first section and they were refused entry, this could cost them a place in the first section. It is unfortunate that this has happened but where due you draw the line, rules are there for a reason, which rule is more important another. It is worth noting that Brighouse at no point in the lead up to the contest tried to hide what was happening it was as far as I know an administrative problem. Well, we were of a sufficiently high standard to beat First City Brass, Friary Guildford, Clacton, Morrells, Gillingham etc. on Sunday, not to mention last year's champions, Redbridge (by two points). Based on the adjudicator's comments that two bands in particular stood out on the day, our position in the Championship section is not in doubt. It can't be argued that Sunday was a "fluke" result, as we thought we played badly on stage. Who knows what would have happened if we'd played (particularly the third movement) properly.
