March 8/9, Hamilton. Ontario I was unfortunately horrified to read in the March edition of the Brass Band Bridge that the Hannaford Street Silver Band were to appear. Curtis Metcalfe of HSSB is one of our clinicians and soloists but not the band. I wish I could afford them. We have had Intrada for the last two years but this year I am conducting a symphonic brass choir made up of most of the top orchestra people in the area. This will be part of the Saturday evening program which in addition will feature solo performances from many of the people listed including Trudel, Kay, Griffiths, Metcalfe and Beaudry. The Friday evening program will be composed of various low brass ensembles including the Great Canadian Trombone Sound which will be spending the 7th and 8th recording a CD which will be out in the fall. The winner of the trombone soloist competition will also play Friday. I apologize that my post to the BBB was not clear. However this will be a great event even without Hannaford Street. Curtis Metcalfe is in my opinion, one of the finest euphonium soloists in the world. He eschews the musical stunts which have made the Child's Brothers famous and just plays the music with consummate skill and artistry. Worth the price of admission alone. There will be more about this event on the list soon. Keep the dates open. Dave Buckley. -- unsubscribe or receive the list in digest form, mail a message of 'help' to listserver@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
