Just stick to the instruments you play. There is a wealth of fine music
written for the traditional British brass band. I see nothing wrong with
substituting french horns and trumpets, if that's what it takes to get
these scores played.

I have had many of my brass band charts played by college bands who have
only symphonic instruments at their disposal. To me, the sound is just as
exciting. There is a lot to be recommended for both the saxhorn band and
the symphonic brass band. For me, the ultimate band would be a blend of
both worlds.
