"None Other Name" is as Mark says one of the truly great selections in
SA repertoire. There is no single piece of writing as poignant as the
cornet solo "Jesus is the Sweetest Name I Know" with its counterpoint
writing. Leading the old Earlscourt Band in this piece, their then solo
cornet player, Bill Gibson, asked me in rehearsal if I intended to play
it as slowly as I was practicing it. My reply was, "It may be even
slower". My single favourite piece of writing ever. The sentiment
expressed, and Erik Leidzen was a very sentimental man, is quite
irrelevant to the beauty of the writing.

I must confess I am enjoying these conversations with old friend Mark
Freeh. I hope the rest of you are not too bored.
